Starkey Mission Trip 2017

We partnered with Starkey Hearing Foundation to help serve over 900 children and adults with hearing loss.

At Chesapeake Hearing Centers, giving back is a big part of who we are. We’re honored to give back to our community and beyond, helping people in need hear their best. Our latest venture took us to Queretaro and Morelia, Mexico, where we helped serve over 900 children and adults with hearing loss.

Dr. Tyler Raup and staff member Amy Mayo recently joined Starkey Hearing Foundation on a hearing mission. The foundation works tirelessly to bring care and hearing health care to communities around the world.

“We were so humbled to be able to be part of Starkey Hearing Foundation’s incredible work in Mexico,” Raup said. “Giving back to the global community is so important, and there is no better way to do so than to help provide the gift of better hearing. Hearing plays such a vital role in helping families to communicate, in education and building connections. And that’s what’s so amazing about this experience; it’s experiencing firsthand just how the gift of hearing can bring families and communities together.”

“Seeing the way people’s faces light up when the hearing aids are turned on, it changes your life,” Mayo said. “We work with patients every day in the office, but to be part of a mission, to fit hundreds who often go without hearing health care, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience.”

While rewarding, our work is never done. Check out our other community efforts and ask us how you can help!

About Starkey Hearing Foundation

Starkey Hearing Foundation, a public charity founded by William F. Austin, gives the gift of hearing to people in need in the U.S. and around the world. Disabling hearing loss affects more than 360 million people, including 32 million children, yet many do not have access to the hearing devices that improve lives and promote understanding. The foundation focuses on hearing health missions, education, and recycling, as well as grants to mission-aligned organizations. The foundation has cared for more than 1.1 million patients and provided 1.9 million hearing devices in more than 100 countries.
