Who We Are...

Chesapeake Hearing Centers is the oldest private practice audiology clinic in the state of Maryland. Originally, services emphasized diagnostic site of lesion studies. We performed the first ABR testing for acoustic tumors outside a major hospital in Maryland.

We began offering industrial hearing conservation programs in 1981, and soon after, initiated a hearing aid dispensary program. We were one of the first centers in the state to offer computer-programmable hearing aids in 1991 and remain a leader, dispensing a variety of programmable and totally digital instruments.

We provide services to individuals with hearing loss throughout their lives. We initiated otoacoustic emission testing of infants in Anne Arundel County, and, realizing the difficulty faced by many seniors to travel to medical services, we have recently begun to offer outreach programs to retirement communities and assistive living facilities.

Today we are a preeminent regional center for the evaluation and nonmedical treatment of hearing and balance disorders. We provide services in five offices located in Anne Arundel County and on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We accept self-referred patients; as well as referrals from physicians, educators, rehabilitation professionals, psychologists, HMOs and other organizations.

Our Mission
Friday, 20 October 2006

When patients walk into an audiologist’s office for the first time, their thoughts often center on whether or not they actually need a hearing aid, if it will work for them, how small it can be, and how they can stay within their personal budget.

These are important concerns, but the process of getting a hearing aid is far more complicated. In most circumstances hearing loss involves the loss of sensory nerve cells that cannot be replaced. Fitting hearing aids never “cures” the disorder, but compensates for the loss to the maximum extent possible. Obtaining this maximum and gaining insights on inherent limitations means professional advice and intervention.

The hearing instruments that are perfect for Mrs. Jones, might be the worst possible solution for Mr. Smith. Audiologists are the professionals most appropriately trained to help you make these choices. This is why we tell our new patients that they get more than hearing aids here…”THEY GET US!”

… We know the service part of hearing health delivery is critical…

Our primary objective is to see that each patient receives that service in a timely, efficient, straight-forward and professional manner.
